The Y-Bridge Arts Festival is slated to return to the Y-Bridge City August 3rd and 4th!
Several weeks ago, it was announced that the annual summer festival would have to be canceled due to the adverse conditions arising from the EPA mandated project to replace the Sewage Lift Station located near the Y-bridge.
Event organizers are thrilled to announce that the popular arts festival has been offered a temporary home for 2013 in the retail and “eat-ertainment” district on the north-end of town at the Colony Square Mall.
Now under the direction of artist Susan Stubbins and the ART COZ (Artist Colony of Zanesville) committee, the Y-Bridge Arts Festival will “bridge” the gap between the experienced juried artists and the arts enthusiast who is seeking an opportunity to showcase his or her work in a first-class exposition of this nature.
“There are times in life when we are initially disappointed, only to be gifted with an awesome alternative! This is one of those times,” exclaimed Stubbins. “Recently, the Artist Colony of Zanesville was disappointed to learn we could not hold the 2013 Y-Bridge Arts Festival due to circumstances beyond our control. Just as we resolved to this displeasure we were gifted with a generous alternative from our friends at Colony Square.”
Visual and performing artists will fill over 20,000 square feet of space that will be transformed into a first-class event, celebrating art, as well as the history and future of the Y-Bridge City.
“The Y-Bridge Arts Festival is a fantastic event and one of the highlights of summer. When we heard the event had been canceled due to construction near the Y-Bridge, I offered Colony Square as a Plan B option,” explained Kevin Pinson, from Colony Square management.
“Skipping a year can cause an annual event to lose its momentum, and we didn’t want to see that happen to the arts festival. The event is too important to the local economy. Colony Square is proud to serve as temporary host of the arts festival. It is our hope that our new friendship with the arts community will continue long after the festival has returned to the Y-Bridge.”
Event sponsorship is also being accepted, and donations can be sent to ART COZ, P.O. Box 1313, Zanesville, OH 43702-1313.
